The US Environmental Protection Agency‘s (EPA) shows the list of the top companies that are Green Power Buyers, among which Intel and PepsiCo are the top position holders.
The list is maintained by the agency that observes how much the green power is purchased by the companies and that how much percent do they consume and what other type of energy they buy.
The Intel Corporation maintains a profile where it buys more than 1.3 billion kilowatt hours of green power per year as defined by the certificates which is generated from wind, solar, geothermal and biomass sources. Intel Corporation is a world leading silicon manufacturing and its rate of buying green energy has a strong impact on the US environment by taking off 185,000 cars from US roads, which is equivalent to the amount of energy that is avoided in provision to 130,000 American households annually.
Another well known company is PepsiCo which is counted as one of the largest company selling food products and beverages. It is recorded that it buys 1.114 Kilowatt green energy from different sources. PepsiCo buys green energy certificates that equally matches with the electricity consumed in United States. PepsiCo coordinates with all those aspects it is concerned that is social, environmental and economic.
Kohl takes the third spot in the list by purchasing 600 billion kilowatt green energy from biomass, biogas, solar and wind.
