A New Hampshire company is getting benefits in the form of $2.3 billion in tax credits. This tax credit is being given to the company for clean energy manufacturing projects across the country.

Government is giving $2 million in tax credits to Spire Semiconductor in Hudson for work on technology used in the solar energy industry.

You would soon see solar panels on the shelves of your local hardware store.
Solar panels now available at Lowe’s Stores in California
On Thursday it has been announced by Lowe’s home depot that it has started selling solar panels, starting at $99, at 21 stores in California, and according to the Associated Press, it has made plans to start offering these panels nationwide next year.

Home Depot are also selling solar panels online, these includes kits geared more at contractors than do-it-yourselfers.
Lowe’s also offer Professional Installation of Solar Panels
Professional installation of Solar panels is offered by this depot through a program that began in California and later on expanded.

Last week it has been announced by The U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) that it had finalized a $535 million loan guarantee for California’s Solyndra, who are makers of cylindrical solar photovoltaic (PV) panels.
For the announcement at Solyndra’s headquarters, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Energy Secretary Steven Chu, and U.S. Vice President Joe Biden were present.

The forces have been joined by two German companies in order to enter the U.S. utility-scale solar market.

A joint venture has been announced by solar thermal company Solar Millennium and plant construction firm MAN Ferrostaal, they have called their venture as Solar Trust of America, LLC. This joint venture have been announced to turnkey development, construction and financing of large-scale concentrated solar power (CSP) plants in the southwestern region of the United States.

A site in North Carolina has been bought by a Maryland company for a photovoltaic solar farm.

It has been reported by the Winston-Salem Journal that SunEdison LLC has started grading on the 357-acre site. In North America SunEdison is the largest solar-energy company.

On Monday it has been said by German thermal solar specialist Solar Millennium AG and German construction and engineering firm MAN Ferrostaal AG that they have formed a joint venture in order to build three utility-scale plants in the Southwestern U.S. which will cost about $3 billion.

Each plant will be having a capability to produce enough electricity to power about 80,000 homes.

A solar-powered mobile phone has been launched by Kenyan mobile network operator, Safaricom. It is branded as Simu ya Solar and it has been manufactured under a partnership with ZTE, the handset has been made by them from recycled materials and it posses an in-built solar panel.

Simu ya Solar, also comes with a conventional charger. At all Safaricom shops countrywide it will be retailing at a price of Shs2,999 (US$40).
Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Michael Joseph said while speaking during the launch of the phone that the company has always been keen on embracing business processes and products that are environmentally-conscious.
