Sony Ericsson has recently unveiled two new mobile phones, Elm and Hazel, contributing its share towards a greener future, and keeping its aim of greenheart effect going.
Both the phones are reported to have better environment credentials than most others, and the best thing about them is that there’s not much of sacrifice in terms of its function or form.
At the first glance, these phones may seem like any other mobile phone, which is good because inconvenient designs in the name of environment would obviously be more difficult to sell.
A new technology is on its way, which uses an innovative solar panel. This new equipment, which will be the biggest West Coast solar installation, will be first used on the roof of a North Sacramento plastics factory.
Built by Fremont’s Solyndra Inc., the new solar panels are made up of racks of solar cells, about the size and shape of long fluorescent light tubes. The new shape enables the panels to absorb sunlight from all angles, including what’s reflected from the white rooftops common on large commercial buildings.
As the race to find more alternatives to fossil fuels speeds up, newer ways to produce energy are coming up. But none of these new inventions are as interesting and innovative as the Cool Earth Solar “Balloon”. This particular balloon is designed to produce 400 times more electricity as compared to a solar cell that does not contain the company’s concentrator.
The main concept behind this design is to create an inflatable plastic thin-film balloon, i.e. the solar concentrator that upon inflation focuses the sunlight onto a photovoltaic cell held at its focal point.
