Environment is no more an issue that is a concern of NGO’s only. In fact as the awareness campaigns are becoming successful, whole of the world is trying its best in playing its role for the betterment of environment conditions. People have started realizing that the issue is staring in the eyes and if we would not address it head on, it is not going to give us much time before causing some real havoc.

Some of the environmental issues
Catastrophic changes in environment has started showing up. The severe climate waves US and Europe is currently experiencing is a reaction of the deteriorating environment conditions. We are facing global warming, seasons are changing their patterns, forests are fast depleting and the deserts are expanding with each passing day and all of this is because of the havoc our carelessness has shown towards environmental issues.

The World Future Energy Summit will take place in Abu Dhabi this month, starting from the 18th Jan, till 21st Jan. This third World Future Energy Summit will scrutinize the implications of the decisions that were taken at the Copenhagen climate change summit, and discuss renewable energy alternatives available.
A forum of world leaders, policy makers, industry experts, thinkers, investors and researchers from over 100 countries are expected to sit together to discuss that renewable energy is not a threat to oil producing economies, but instead, it provides new business opportunities.

Adding a new dimension to its popularity, the Houston County is going to become one of the first one to consume the garbage from its public landfill to produce electricity, as a result of a deal signed in December between the county and Flint Energies.

The methane gas, produced due to the natural decomposition of garbage underground, is currently being “flared,” or burned off, but soon it will become a source of energy and earn income for the county as well.
The gas will be bought by Flint, which is an electric co-op. It will then use the gas to make electricity through an adjacent generating plant on county land.

Air in motion is called wind. Uneven heating of the Earth’s surface generates wind. As Earth’s surface is made of very different type of land and water and it absorbs sun’s heat at different rates.

The Daily Wind Cycle
In day the air above land heats up quickly than air over water. The warm air over the land expands and rises and as cooler air is heavier it rushes to take place with this procedure wind is created. While in night its total different than day because in night air over land gets cooler quickly than air on over water.
The atmospheric winds that circles the earth are also created in same way because land near the Earth’s equator heats up more than the land near South and North Poles.

Unfortunately, the UN climate summit ended today in Copenhagen, with a very weak global agreement, disappointing Britain, together with many other poor countries that were hoping for better results.

After extensive talks between 115 world leaders, and forming eight draft texts, the final decision was left in the hands of Barack Obama and Wen Jiabao, the Chinese premier.
The so-called Copenhagen accord “recognizes” the scientific need for keeping temperature rises to a maximum of 2C, but does not contain any strong commitments to the reduction in emissions in order to achieve the goal.
The American officials did try to call the deal as a “meaningful agreement”, but even President Obama declared that the progress was not enough, and that there is still a long way to go.

Sony Ericsson has recently unveiled two new mobile phones, Elm and Hazel, contributing its share towards a greener future, and keeping its aim of greenheart effect going.

Both the phones are reported to have better environment credentials than most others, and the best thing about them is that there’s not much of sacrifice in terms of its function or form.
At the first glance, these phones may seem like any other mobile phone, which is good because inconvenient designs in the name of environment would obviously be more difficult to sell.

On Monday, The White House announced that it will be initiating a new program, spending $350 million over a period of five years in order to supply developing nations with clean energy technology to combat greenhouse gas emissions and reduce global warming. The funding will be granted by drawing funds from international partners.

According to this program, solar power alternatives will be distributed for homes, including sun-powered lanterns and cleaning equipment and appliances. The funding will also be used to encourage renewable energy systems in the world’s poorer nations.
The Major Economies Forum (MEF) established the funding plan among the world’s top economies in the beginning of this year, planning to produce the details and spending at the July summit meeting in L’Aquila, Italy.

Ford’s forsook plant in Wixom, Michigan, is seeking a new lease on life. The manufacturing plant primitively opened way back in 1957 during the glory days of the American automotive industry. It covers a 320 acres (4.7 million sq-ft). By the fall of 2011, the Wixom plant will not truly have a lot to do with cars, turning into rather the largest renewable energy park in the America.

Two parties program to put 725 million USD to restore the former Ford factory. Clairvoyant Energy of Santa Barbara, California will move its HQ and produce solar panels in Wixom. Xtreme Power of Austin, Texas programs to construct mass batteries to storage power for the electric grid and from wind parks.
