Various terms for renewable energy architecture are used interchangeably. These are “sustainable architecture” and “green architecture”. All of these have almost the same meaning and usage. With advancement in every field of architecture, this area is also expanding.

What does renewable energy architecture mean?

It involves the idea of using those materials and techniques which are environment-friendly. It stimulates and encourages architects to create imaginative solutions for designing sustainable energy-efficient buildings worldwide. It is of course a challenging task.

How renewable energy architecture is environment-conscious?

The answer is simple. Our homes emit carbon in large amount. These are in fact a major source of its emission. There must be a way to minimize domestic effects on global warming. It is through green energy architecture that environment-friendly house structures are created.

Using solar power in architecture

Green energy architecture uses many renewable sources. Solar power is one of these. While a building or a house is designed, various special techniques are used. These enable solar power incorporation into the structure. Many building materials are used that enable using sun energy effectively.

Which devices are used?

Specifically designed devices are needed for providing required energy. Photovoltaic solar panels are installed in the building. These provide electricity for various uses. Sunlight strikes their surface during day time. It is then retained and converted into electric current.

Structure design

Renewable energy architecture differs from conventional architecture. Roofs are designed facing towards the sun. In this way, it enables photovoltaic panels to get sunlight at maximum level. Thus, their efficiency is increased.

Advanced structure

In more advanced form, a moveable structure is designed. It keeps on rotating throughout the day with the direction of sunlight.

Now you can power your house with green energy. It may sound expensive or difficult to convert normal home into sun-inspired home. But in fact, it is fairly simple and economical. These have countless benefits. Being environment-friendly, these are safer and not harmful for the atmosphere around.

Two methods of solar heating are “active” and “passive”.

Active solar heating

Specific equipment is required for active solar heating. Pumps and fans are needed to move or direct sun heat. There are two further classifications in it, which are air-based and liquid systems.

1.Air-based solar heating

In air-based solar heating systems, collectors are used. These trap air which absorbs and transfers heat from the sun. Air-based system can work on lower efficiency than liquid ones. Why is that so? The reason is that air cannot transfer heat efficiently like water can do.

Advantages of air-based solar heating

There is an advantage of air-based solar heating that these systems can warm up room directly. These can also function early in the morning and late in the day. Moreover, these are easy to build and install. These can be fixed outside so that more than one room in a house can be heated.

Air-based connectors are mostly installed on window frames, roofs and walls.

2.Liquid-based active solar heating

Liquid solar collectors are used in liquid-based systems. These trap and move heat. Most common are flat-plate collectors. A fluid, like water or antifreeze is filled. This liquid absorbs heat. This heated fluid is then transferred to heat exchanger or storage tank through mechanical collector such as pump.

Important considerations

While installing solar heating system, consider these important things first:

  • Its cost is affordable
  • Size is suitable to your particular needs
  • It is durable and long-lasting
  • Tank placement is absolutely accurate

When entire mechanism is properly installed, solar heat can be distributed with a central-forced air system, a radiant floor, and a baseboard or hot water radiator.

Passive solar heating

Another type is Passive solar heating system. It works by storing solar energy. It does not require any electrical or mechanical devices.

Getting Residential Solar System in Delaware

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Delaware Green Energy Fund was at first passed in 1999, and was restructured in2007. It is designed to support solar and other forms of renewable energy. Principally the bill works by accumulating a small surcharge to everyone’s electricity bill which contributes to fund renewable energy programs statewide.

Delaware Aim

Delaware

It is aimed by DA that 20% of the energy sold must come from renewable sources by the year 2019. Furthermore, at least 2% of this output needs to come from solar power. As well as the utility surcharge, the state has employed a discount program to promote awareness in solar power.

By this kind of government push as well as the economic incentives, a free solar evaluation is worthwhile. Also, investing in a solar kit or other kind of solar installation can be a very valuable long-term savings.

Solar Panel Efficiency

Developed progress in the past decade have lowered the rate of solar panels to the point that a 30% efficiency panel can pay for the cost of production and installation over the first six years of its life. This means that solar power is now cost-effective and feasible, since panels are designed to run for at least 10 years before they start to break down.

Free Solar Evaluation

The California Solar initiative has been an example for other states to pursue in setting up incentive programs to promote solar power. There are also other states with more solar potential and discount or incentives. For more information on the viability of solar power in your area, as well as information on local incentive programs, solar evaluation is needed. For that purpose a questionnaire is to be filled. The questionnaire requires information to estimate the solar need. The more precise the information you can give us, the more precise will be the estimate. This is particularly right when it comes to the amount of your electrical bill per month. Your power supply company and we together get a good estimate of your existing monthly power usage. Different qualified contractors are hired for the evaluation.

All the solar thermal plants in USA are not pollution-free. It is because they use different kinds of fuels as well. They are the result of several kinds of pollution and harmful effects to the environment and the atmosphere.

Solar thermal plants

They are so called the green-energy alternatives. They make use of the energy coming from the sun and are expected to be pollution-free. They are thought to be a great contribution in the present time of energy crisis.

Solar energy

But unfortunately, they don’t solely use the sun energy but a number of other chemicals are used in their working. This is making them cause pollution of several types. They also result in green house effect and thus in global warming.

Some of the solar thermal plants are designed that use natural gas or propane boilers other than the sun energy. This is used as a fuel to start up the units. It results in the production of the gases that cause the green house effect.

Carbon fuels are fulfilling energy needs of world. These carbon fuels cost money. We earn money with hard work. We work hard for bringing easiness in our lives. We have complete right to spend the money that we earn. But there is a way to healthy life in avoiding extra expenses on fuel. We can save money on fuel cost and our life will be healthy if we understand the correct use of car.

Reduce The Use of Car

We Americans are popular for adopting laziness in most part of our life. For example many people live where grocery markets are a few blocks away. They can walk to markets for buying goods. But instead of wearing a pair of shoes to walk to markets, they drive their cars for this purpose. You can save your fuel cost if you walk. In a case where market is a little away from your residence, you can ride a bicycle. This is a healthy way to life because there is a chance of doing exercise in it.

Adopt Correct Habits Of Driving

Consider your driving habits. If you warm your vehicle before you come to road, your vehicle will perform better with low fuel consumption. Simultaneously, drive smoothly. Because fuel consumption is comparatively low in smooth driving. Smooth driving habit will improve your engine’s performance by increasing the period between services.

China, US Green Investment Competition

Tags: , ,

China is emerging as the world’s clean energy “powerhouse”. China has beaten up the United States as the top investor in clean energy. In 2009, for the first time China led the world in clean energy investments and Britain achieved the 3rd position. In the past year, China surprisingly spent $34.6 billion in clean energy which is double then that of United States $18.6 billion. World’s largest economy lost the top spot in clean energy.

China had made a strategic decision to invest in wind and solar technologies. It has a huge wind turbine production sector and is the world’s largest solar cells producer. Its aim is to achieve 30 gigawatt renewable energy capability set up by 2020 but soon it will surpass the target. Britain’s advancement in this sector is due to vast government-backed offshore wind power projects and made investments into the young marine energy sector.

Britain spent $11.2 billion, gained 3rd position followed by Spain and Brazil. South Korea moved with 250 percent growth of setup capability. Since 2005, global investments in this sector have doubled and are proposed to reach $200 billion in 2010.

As a percentage of their economies China, Brazil, Spain, Britain and Germany have the most vigorous clean energy sectors with strong green policies which consist of carbon markets, feed-in-tariffs, and mandated clean energy targets and priority loans for renewable energy projects. Due to China, United States competitive position is at threat in the up coming clean energy economy.

United State is on the border of losing its leadership position in established renewable energy capacity, with China soaring in the previous several years to a virtual tie. Some researches show that in last year Spain invested five times more than the United States while China, Brazil and the United Kingdom invested three times more. Half of the G20 countries spent a larger proportion of their gross domestic product on clean energy.

Though US is termed to be the world’s largest economy, it doesn’t seem to be taking clean energy strategies very seriously as it still considers itself free from major pollution issues. China on the other hand, has to adopt to clean energy as fast as possible due to its impending population rise and also rising pollution. Being the world’s largest country, it has serious pollution issues that needs immediate attention, and thus, its capability to beat off US in green investments can be understood. The US does need to realize that it too needs to take up clean energy challenges seriously, as more consumption is increased, in regards of cars and technology. Any carelessness will result in environmental issues.
