Solar energy may be the most abundant source of energy, but many people avoid its usage due to the uncertainty of the weather. If you use solar energy to power your house, then what do you do on a cloudy or rainy day?

There are three main alternative options available that can provide unlimited power even if the sun isn’t cooperating. In case you want to live independently, completely off the grid, but can’t trust your PV panels to supply all the electricity you’ll need all the time, you can use a backup generator when the solar generation becomes low.
Secondly, you can use the energy storage in the form of batteries. Although batteries may increase the initial and maintenance cost to a PV system, but it can enable you to enjoy uninterrupted power supply especially if you want to be completely independent.
The third option is to connect your house to the utility grid. You don’t always have to buy power. You can get it when you need it (when your solar system goes low on power) and sell it back when you produce more than you require. However, do bear in mind that government regulations may vary depending on location and are subject to change. There are other issues to cater as well, such as the buyback price may vary greatly and you’ll also probably need special equipment to make the power you’re selling to the utility company compatible with their own. Safety is another issue as well.
Although batteries are an easier and better option,so remember that they will have to be maintained and eventually replaced after a certain number of years.
PV systems batteries can also be very dangerous due to the energy they store and the acidic electrolytes they contain. Due to this reason, you’ll need a well-ventilated, nonmetallic enclosure for them.
