Sony Ericsson has recently unveiled two new mobile phones, Elm and Hazel, contributing its share towards a greener future, and keeping its aim of greenheart effect going.

Both the phones are reported to have better environment credentials than most others, and the best thing about them is that there’s not much of sacrifice in terms of its function or form.
At the first glance, these phones may seem like any other mobile phone, which is good because inconvenient designs in the name of environment would obviously be more difficult to sell.
These phones are considered environment friendly mainly due to these features:
-
These phones are mostly made of recycled plastic and painted in a waterborne paint.
-
The phones are free from hazardous chemicals.
-
The user manual is put inside the phone rather than on paper.
-
Their chargers work more efficiently than conventional ones.
-
Packaging for the phones will also be minimized.
One additional interesting feature in these phones is the Walk Mate application. The app shows users a way to walk to the destination, rather than drive. Moreover, a calculator also shows the user the amount of CO2 saved by walking. Some of the other features include a 5 megapixel camera, media player and up to 10 hours of talk time. The phones will be available in the second quarter of 2010.
