New Renewable Energy Option Unveiled

Posted on 29 November 2009

The world’s first organization for green electricity, ecotricity, has decided to offer green gas to UK householders for the first time.

green elect.

The company will be generating the energy using a mixture of green and traditional ‘brown’ sources.

The company has stated that the residents will not have to pay any additional costs for the green fuel. Moreover, it also aims to match British Gas’ standard gas and dual-fuel charges for each area.

The founder of Ecotricity, Dale Vince said that people don’t have to keep giving their money to the big multinational energy companies, who seem determined to keep burning whatever in the world they can get their hands on like there’s no tomorrow.

He also added that “By choosing green gas, customers can help unhook Britain from its addiction to foreign gas supplies, make a positive long-term change to the world we live in, and could also keep thousands of tonnes of waste out of landfill.”

The best thing about Green gas is that it is made using materials that are often dumped in landfill sites, such as food waste.

Right now, around 18 million tonnes of food is thrown away in Britain in a year. Green gas production can transform this into enough energy to power more than 700,000 homes annually.
