The Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics has reported that currently, there are nine major renewable energy projects going on at an advance stage of development, in Australia.

Eight of these projects are wind power projects and make up about 84% of the renewable energy capacity.
Four of these wind projects are located in New South Wales, Oaklands, Waterloo and Lake Bonney in South Australia.
The biggest project is the Roaring 40s’ 111 megawatt Waterloo wind farm in South Australia. With an estimated cost of $300 million, it is scheduled to start operation in 2010. The Lake Bonney wind project will also have a capacity of 39 megawatts once completed.
The Crookwell 2 project in the New South Wales will be able to generate 92 megawatts of electricity, with a capital cost of $238 million.
According to ABARE, there are also 80 other, less advanced, renewable energy projects underway. About seventy-one of these projects are wind farms, making up around 90% contribution to renewable energy capacity.
