Today we normally see small wind turbines right outside homes, businesses and schools. And now latest, most advanced wind turbine – not like those in our area -makes its debut in Idaho Falls.![]()
This new wind energy system is named Blackhawk TR-10 Vault. On Wednesday morning, it started working outside the Center for Advanced Energy Studies.
Dawn Cardwell calls it a perfect fit. She is involved in Blackhawk Project LLC. It is a Boise- based wind energy company. It now started collaborative effort with university students and people at CAES so that they can do more tests and research work to develop this new technology.
This wind system will deliver the generated electricity to CAES’s power grid and the analysts present there will monitor it and compile data on its performance, safety and durability.
Dawn Cardwell says
“There hasn’t been any new technology in vertical access turbines for a long time and this is something that we feel is gonna benefit the general public and anyone interested in small wind that wanted to benefit from green energy.”
The researchers will test it for next one or two years with an aim to develop a turbine with double in size and four times in production without affecting its cost so that the price remains the same.
