It has been reported by the Winston-Salem Journal that SunEdison LLC has started grading on the 357-acre site. In North America SunEdison is the largest solar-energy company.

The Beltsville company has made plans that they will spend $173 million. Besides 80 construction jobs, the company has made plans to have three employees.

It has been said by Charlotte-based Duke Energy Corp. that 15 months ago an agreement has been signed by it with SunEdison to buy the entire output of the solar farm for 20 years. It is anticipated that the production will begin by December 2010.

18 megawatts of energy will be produced by the farm, with Duke customers getting 16 megawatts, or enough power for more than 2,600 homes. During the transfer process, some of the energy would be lost.
