We need energy to do every work in our daily lives. Travelling is one big act we do regular to cover long distances, so we need energy as well to travel. In today’s world we use transportation which consumes energy. In California half of the energy that is used for transportation in form of vehicle fuels and gasoline. Similarly in States, it is observed that three-fourth of the energy is used in vehicles fueling and diesel making.
In our previous posts we have learned about preparation of fuel, that is how it processed in refinery and resulted into multiple products. when the fuel is prepared it is sent to city areas through huge tankers. These tankers are so big that can carry about 10 gallons and they carry gasoline to the gasoline stations. the gasoline station have the two under ground pumps, that is when we get to the station we get options of the premium and regular. Apart from these is the mid grade gasoline called diesel also is used by heavy trucks and buses. it is also made from oil and brought in the same way to the fuel stations.
It is recorded that California is counted as the third largest user of gasoline in the world, it has more than 26 millions vehicles on its road. Other than this United States and former Soviet Union have been consuming gasoline and counted as top two countries for its bulk consumption.
However, fuel consumption is a big cause of creating air pollution. Since the vehicles are over crowded in most parts of the world, some of the developed cities and places, let suppose California has been inventing something as reformulated gasoline that has low impact on environment but still one of the new product’s component was resulted as harmful to water supplies if its leak and so the idea remained flopped.
Moreover, another point that was worth considering were the political issues with the companies that exported oil to US like Middle East. US imported oil from Middle East which was later stopped as ruled by OPEC(Oil Producing Exporting Companies). So it is fine when the countries are at rest in political manner. Anyhow, the concern of air pollution matters more so the formation of other fuels from other sources than oil are introduced and used today. these fuels include ethanol,propane, natural gas and methanol. These fuels are called alternative fuels and the vehicles that use these fuels are alternative fuel vehicles.
Thus this introduction of other sort of fuels have so well succeeded that most of the vehicles are using it, and few number of cars and trucks are still using diesel and fuels from oil. It is believed that in future all vehicles would prefer to use the alternative fuels to secure environment.
